Ceramics that evoke feelings
Handmade in the South of Sweden

My webshop on Etsy is now open for business. Have a look at enkrukakeramik.etsy.com.
I appreciate all visits, comments and likes, even if you don't want to buy something :-)

Hello, welcome and thank you very much for visiting!

My name is Heike, and I make ceramics that convey a relatable feeling or characteristic:

My figurines are trying to be their best selves, but they're also human. Full of enthusiasm, idiosyncrasies, contradictions and humor. They'll be your small, ever-present reminder, that all of us are just ever so slightly odd – and that is precisely what is wonderful about us.

My more ”useful” items (like cups, pots, plates, earring holders or whatever else I might fancy making) will help you cozy in, chill out and have a lovely time reflecting and enjoying what is on or on them.

My business is called ”En kruka keramik”: ”En kruka” is Swedish for ”a ceramic pot” as well as ”a scaredy-cat”. The former is some of what I make, the latter is what I am (I do like to wear both belt and braces).

Everything I sell is handmade by me in the countryside just outside of Malmö in the very south of Sweden. I live right next to my tiny workshop with my husband Erik and my son Jonas (born 2014).

I speak English - Jag pratar Svenska - Jeg taler Dansk - Ich spreche Deutsch.

About me

During my entire life I've always enjoyed being creative - ”making stuff”. I started in kindergarden and never really stopped, trying lots of different materials and techniques on the way.

As an adult, I spent 20+ years working as a digital transformation and strategy consultant, while sorely missing the energy and time for ”making stuff”, that wasn't PowerPoints or emails.

About 20 years ago I finally fell for ceramics. I immediately loved the fact that I both get to invent a shape, form it AND colour it. And I can (and do) literally spend all my free time exploring the endless possibilities this gives me.

So far I have filled my house (and some friends' places) with anything and everything ceramic – cups, plates, plant pots, lamps, tiles, fence toppers, cats (!), earrings, bird baths shaped like swimming pools (?!)... I've made it all.

And after a host of friends commented that really I should try selling what I make, I finally decided to turn my hobby into my occupation.

Starting in 2023, I slowly established my own ceramics workshop at home, took a couple of intensive throwing lessons and upped my game by getting a diploma in ceramics.
